1、表示論文報道、介紹、綜述、推薦等動詞的時態(tài)通常用一般現在時。
（1）本文討論了手術并發(fā)癥及其預防方法。
：In this paper operative complication and methods of preventing it are discussed.
（2）本文是對我科確診的20例矽肺結核所做的簡要總結.
譯聲英：This paper is a brief summary based on 20 cases of silicotuberculosis documented in our department.

2、表示其梅文從或別的作者報選、討論、綜述要用一般過去時或現在完成時。
（1）就我們所知，漿細胞白血病的這一并發(fā)癥迄今未見有報道。
譯聲英：To our knowledge，this complication has not yet been reported in plasma cell leukemia.
（2）對志愿人員進行傳染性肝炎的研究，在 1968年就有過報道。
譯聲英：In 1968，studies of infections hepatitis in volunteers were reported.

3、表示研究過程中動作或狀態(tài)的動詞的時態(tài)：通常用一般過去時態(tài).但有時為了強調某一行為或狀態(tài)業(yè)已完成或持續(xù)到撰寫論文時，也可用現在完成時。
（1）我們對65例早期胃癌治療效果進行了分析。
譯聲英：The results of treatment of early gastric carcinoma were analyzed in 65 patients.
（2）我們檢查了5例死于成人呼吸窘迫癥的病人的肺臟。
譯聲英：The authors have examined the lungs from five patients who died of the adult respiratory distress syndrome.

4、表示研究目的的動詞的時態(tài)：研究目的是在著手研究時確定的，按英美人的寫作習慣，研究目的一般都用過去時表達。
（1）本研究旨在觀察循經感傳能否建立條件反射。
譯聲英：The objective of this study was to observe the possibility of elaboration a conditioned reflex on the basis of propagated sensation along channels.
（2）本研究旨在對因急性心肌梗死住院的病人在出院前進行踏車運動試驗的安全性與效用做出評價。
譯聲英：The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and utility of treadmill exercise testing prior to the discharge of patients admitted with acute myocardial infarctio.
（3）本研究旨在評定高選擇性迷走神經切斷術后的臨床效果。
譯聲英：The aim of this study was to assess the clinical results after highly selective agotomy.
