We’ll soon usher in the year 2014 with great hopes. As the new year begins, let us also start anew. I’mdelighted to extend New Year wishes to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, to compatriots in the Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan, to overseas Chineseand to friends all over the world! I wish senior people and children, and every family happiness, peace andhealth in the New Year.
在這辭舊迎新之際，無(wú)數(shù)工人、農(nóng)民、知識(shí)分子、干部仍然堅(jiān)守在工作崗位，不少同胞依然奔波在世界各地為祖國(guó)辛勤工作，許多人民解放軍和武警官兵、公安干警正在履行光榮使命。他們有的遠(yuǎn)離祖國(guó)、遠(yuǎn)離親人，有的不能同家人團(tuán)聚。我代表祖國(guó)和人民，向他們致以誠(chéng)摯的問(wèn)候，祝他們平安順利！
At a time to ring out the old year and ring in the new, countless workers, farmers, intellectuals and cadres stillremain at their posts working hard. Many of our compatriots are on the go, working in various regions of theworld for the motherland. Many members of the People’s Liberation Army, armed police and public securityare performing their glorious duties. Some of them are far away from the motherland, and their close relativesand some cannot have a reunion with family members. On behalf of the motherland and people, I’d like tooffer my sincere greetings to them and wish them a peaceful and smooth new year.
2013年，對(duì)我們國(guó)家和人民來(lái)說(shuō)是很不平凡的一年。我們共同戰(zhàn)勝了各種困難和挑戰(zhàn)，取得了新的顯著成就。成績(jī)來(lái)之不易，凝聚了大家的心血和汗水。我向大家表示衷心的感謝！
The year 2013 has been an extraordinary year for our nation and people. We have worked together inovercoming a variety of obstacles and challenges, and made new outstanding achievements. Theachievements have not come easily as they are the result of blood and sweat from all. I’d like to convey myheartfelt gratitude to you all.
2013年，我們對(duì)全面深化改革作出總體部署，共同描繪了未來(lái)發(fā)展的宏偉藍(lán)圖。2014年，我們將在改革的道路上邁出新的步伐。
In 2013, we made an overall plan on comprehensively deepening reform and laid out a grand blueprinttogether for future development. In 2014, we are expected to make new strides on the road of reform.
我們推進(jìn)改革的根本目的，是要讓國(guó)家變得更加富強(qiáng)、讓社會(huì)變得更加公平正義、讓人民生活得更加美好。改革是需要我們共同為之奮斗的偉大事業(yè)，需要付出艱辛的努力。一分耕耘，一分收獲。在改革開(kāi)放的偉大實(shí)踐中，我們已經(jīng)創(chuàng)造了無(wú)數(shù)輝煌。我堅(jiān)信，中國(guó)人民必將創(chuàng)造出新的輝煌。
We have advanced reforms with the fundamental purpose of making our nation stronger and moreprosperous. We also aim to achieve a higher degree of impartiality and justice in society so that people canlive a better life. Reform is a great cause that calls for common commitments and strenuous efforts from usall. We must sow before we can reap. In the great practice of reform and opening up, we have already madecountless spectacular achievements. I firmly believe that the Chinese people will create new spectacles.
宇宙浩瀚，星漢燦爛。70多億人共同生活在我們這個(gè)星球上，應(yīng)該守望相助、同舟共濟(jì)、共同發(fā)展。中國(guó)人民追尋實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的中國(guó)夢(mèng)，也祝愿各國(guó)人民能夠?qū)崿F(xiàn)自己的夢(mèng)想。我真誠(chéng)希望，世界各國(guó)人民在實(shí)現(xiàn)各自夢(mèng)想的過(guò)程中相互理解、相互幫助，努力把我們賴以生存的地球建設(shè)成為共同的美好家園。
There exists an immense and vast universe with bright stars. More than 7 billion people inhabit the planetEarth. We in the same boat should keep watch and help each other to achieve common development. WeChinese people seek to realize the Chinese dream, a great revitalization of the Chinese nation, and also wishthat the dreams of people of all countries will come true. I sincerely hope that people of various countries inthe world will understand and help each other in the course of realizing their dreams and build the Earth thatwe rely on for survival into a common beautiful homeland.
生活總是充滿希望的，成功總是屬于積極進(jìn)取、不懈追求的人們。我們?cè)谇斑M(jìn)的道路上，還會(huì)遇到各種風(fēng)險(xiǎn)和挑戰(zhàn)。讓老百姓過(guò)上更加幸福的生活，還有大量工作要做。我們要謙虛謹(jǐn)慎、艱苦奮斗，共同譜寫(xiě)偉大祖國(guó)發(fā)展的時(shí)代新篇章。
Life is always full of hopes. Success always belongs to those who keep forging ahead unswervingly. On ourway forward, we will encounter various risks and challenges. We still need to complete a lot of tasks so thatcommon people can live a happier life. We need to be modest and prudent and work hard together in writinga new chapter for the development of our great nation.
